Bill Kafitz came to the SBDC at the University of Central Florida with a professional background in medical equipment sales, a business idea, and the passion to see it succeed. After completing the Center's new venture seminar series. Bill met with Roger Greenwald, SBDC Certified Business Analyst. In the initial meeting, Bill described his new business idea - a center for providing laser skin rejuvenation/tightening utilizing state-of-the-art laser technology. Bill expressed a need to raise as much as $150,000 in debt financing to launch the business including the purchase of the laser equipment.

Bill needed assistance preparing a business plan that would support his need for financing. While he had done a good job of doing the research, his initial business plan resulted in a contrived and confusing story, without adequate financials. It was clear that the plan needed to be redrafted and include a comprehensive financial picture giving clear visibility into the business' sustained viability. CBA Roger Greenwald provided Bill with a more conventional business plan outline, assisted in the development of a realistic monthly revenue forecast, and worked with Bill in fleshing out cash flow statements for years 1-3. Over the next several counseling sessions, the plan came together, clearly presenting the business, it's potential and the resulting financial picture.

During the planning process, Roger recommended that Bill explore a lease-to-purchase option in lieu of immediate purchase of the laser equipment resulting in a negotiated lease/buy agreement reducing his initial financing requirements to $50,000. Bill presented his case to lending institutions and was successful in obtaining a $50,000 LOC. Bill opened hi business in January 2008 in Winter Park, Florida.
