Advanced Pool Heating

In 2003, the Seminole Technology Incubator received a call asking if there was availability for short-term space to a firm that was in the throes of splitting. The goal was to allow a group a short period of time to re-organize and save 10-15 jobs in Seminole County. This firm was to be called Phoenix Home Services as in Phoenix rising from the ashes. They managed to stabilize and grow and, shortly thereafter, move into commercial space. The SBDC at Seminole Community College provided guidance and much needed encouragement during this dark period of law suits and feuding owners. Shane Ackerman emerged as the driving force and owner of a new company now named Advanced Pool Heating. He approached Wayne Hardy, SBDC Certified Business Analyst, for some short-term help in housing and business assistance. Wayne arranged with the Incubator to provide office space and discussed where they wanted to grow.

After a year in the Incubator, Advanced Pool Heating and its sister firm United Property Services are now moving into much larger quarters--4500 square feet of commercial space. Now, with 37 employees and a new branch office in South Florida, this company represents a real success for the business strategy of giving entrepreneurs a short-term helping hand.
