Where can I find a list of potential internship employers and/or can my current job count as an internship?

There is no published list of employers due to constant changes in internship sponsors.  However, you can stop by the Internship Office if you have questions or an interest in a specific area.  Additionally, current jobs cannot count for internship credit unless you transfer to a different department with different job tasks and work under a new supervisor.

Is it possible to find an internship on my own and still receive credit?

Yes.  Since the requirements are the same for all employers you should look at the employer requirements listed under the Employer Agreement on the employer page of this site and make sure that companies you are looking at will agree to meet those terms.  If so, then have your future employer download and fill out the forms on the employer page and fax it to the Internship Coordinator at 407-823-3891.

I've got an internship, now what?

Contact the Internship Office immediately so you can begin to fill out the secondary paperwork and start the registration process.  Additionally, double check with your employer and make sure they have turned in an Intent-to-Sponsor form and an Employer Agreement.  You cannot register until those forms (and all of your paperwork) has been approved.  In addition, you must attend the mandatory orientation (Date TBA).

What is the quality of the internship experience and the flexibility in working hours?
Due to the variety of employers, there are many different internship work experiences.  Some are very structured like Sea World and others are more self-directed like The Hope and Help Center.  Work schedules are determined by the student intern and the employer so any questions regarding work schedules must be directed to the employer.  If you are interested in learning more about a particular firm that has contacted you for an interview you can always contact the Internship Office and we will try to help answer your questions.
