COURSE DESCRIPTION:

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

The "discussion" section is a lab in which the programming techniques can be demonstrated and practiced.

The lab is used to practice specific skills.

The lab will allow more hands-on programming and will also contain demonstrations of programming techniques.

GRADING POLICY:

No grade will be issued by the "discussion" section. The grade for the course will be issued by the professor of the "lecture" section.

RESPONSIBILITY OF STUDENT:

The Office of Student Conduct lists the University's Rules of Conduct. Please, read the first section on "Academic Dishonesty/Cheating."

On all programming assignment students must do their own work.

Students must develop their own solution, design their own forms, write their own documentation, and program their own code.

Do not accept code, forms, documentation, etc. from anyone else and do not write code, develop a form design, or write documentation, etc. for anyone else. Do not leave your code on a public computer such that someone could copy it and treat it as their own.

Any violations to this policy will be considered "Academic Dishonesty/Cheating" as listed in the Rules of Conduct of the Golden Rule.

GENERAL POLICIES:

Backup your work. You are responsible for hardware and software failures.

Attendance will be taken. Note that these attendance records will be made available to the professors of the "lecture" section of the course at their request.

E-mails sent to the instructor should be professional. Please, check your spelling, write short paragraphs, and sign all of your e-mails.

E-mails with coding questions should be descriptive. If you need help with a programming issue, please succinctly describe your issue. If you had an error, write the error message that occurred. If you send Visual Basic code to the instructor via e-mail, your code must contain comments so that the purpose of the code is clear.

E-mails with zips not accepted (in general). In general, no zipped files of code will be accepted. Please, paste the relevant code in the body of the email.

Use the classroom computers for class work. Please, be considerate of other students during class and do not check your e-mail, check the latest sports scores, or any other non-course related Web site. It's distractive and rude. Thanks for cooperating.

STUDENT DISABILITY:

Anyone with a disability that may limit participation with regular classroom activities should inform the instructor at the beginning of the term. Proper adjustments will be made to compensate for limitations. Students who need accommodations must be registered with Student Disability Services, Student Resource Center Room 132, phone 407-823-2371, TTY/TDD only phone 407-823-2116.

LAB WITH VISUAL STUDIO:

Visual Studio 2008 is usually installed on the computers in the Magruder Teaching Lab which is located in BA1 Room 148A, a room located at the back of the BA1's computer lab.

There are often classes in this lab; the lab's available hours are usually posted on the door of the Magruder Teaching Lab.
