January 1976-August 1979: Consultant, Data Methods Corp., Cincinnati, Ohio. (President and founder of company. Design and implementation of business computer systems. Managed up to five employees. Developed proposals, managed sales and client relations. Developed software packages including a credit union system with 10 installations nationally and a farmers' cooperative package which was adopted by the Ohio state farmers' cooperative organization for installation in their over fifty county branch units. Organization and operation of a timesharing utility for 20 clients.)

SUMMARY OF CAREER ACADEMIC CONTRIBUTIONS

 

  • Originated, developed and delivered (with four graduate teaching assistants) from the summer of 2000 to the summer of 2002 a completely web-based version of the course, "Management Information Systems", which is in the undergraduate business core at the University of Central Florida and had enrollment between 1000 and 1500 students per regular term.
  • Coordinator, MIS academic program, 1992-1997, Department of Management, University of Central Florida. Concentration program in MIS in Management major developed over period of years into a program which was approved by the college and accepted by the university as a Major in MIS in 1995. Initiated and proposed in 1992 a M.S. in MIS program which was approved by the college but not implemented immediately by the university for resource reasons; the program was eventually implemented in 2000.
  • Coordinator, Computer Science academic program, 1985-86, Department of Computer Science, University of Southern Mississippi. Design and implementation of a new Major in Computer Science which was subsequently accredited by the Computer Science Accreditation Board.
  • Technical Advisor, Data Processing Management Association (DPMA) for preparation of CIS-86 Model 4-year, Undergraduate Curriculum for Computer Information Systems. Authored four course syllabi included in the nationally recognized model curriculum.
  • Co-author of over thirty journal articles, fourteen textbooks, seven published software programs for teaching and research, two book chapters, and over forty papers in the proceedings of regional, national, and international conferences.
  • Co-principal Investigator on two research contracts funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
  • Taught over twenty different undergraduate courses and over ten different graduate courses in computer science and MIS. Supervised six M.S. theses, ten M.S. projects, and committee member for two Ph.D. dissertations.
