2. Course
Description-- ISM 6305
(3 credit hours) "This course
investigates issues relevant to effectively managing IT activities and the
challenges facing IT managers and some potential solutions to deal with them."
3. Course Prerequisite--
CBA master's
program of Study Foundation Core.
4. Required Text-- Applegate, Austin, McFarlan, CORPORATE INFORMATION STRATEGY AND MANAGEMENT, McGraw-Hill Irwin, 2007, ISBN: 0-07-294775-6.
5. Final Course Grade Computation-- During the term, the instructor plays the roles of instructor, coach, critic, client, and manager. The final grade will be the evaluation of you determined by the instructor in his role as "manager" after observing your work performance for the 15 week term.
Note: if you are not performing at an "A" level the "manager" will inform you of this and begin counseling you so that you may obtain some final grade, not necessarily "A". If you are not notified that you need work counseling, then you may assume that you are on track for a final grade of "A".
Many tasks, individual and team, will be assigned during the term. First, be sure you understand the assignment and be careful to meet the letter of all of those tasks -- missing work is very obvious. Second, be sure to be enthusiastic and on-time -- attitude is very important in the work environment.
One task will be designated as the "final exam" and the work on this task will be done during the scheduled final exam period for the class.
6. Withdrawal-- My personal policy is to sign the paperwork for a WP (withdraw passing) grade for any student if the paperwork is received in my office before the final exam is initially available, and to award a WF thereafter. However, this is not the university policy, and getting the registrar to accept your signed WP paperwork is your problem. See the UCF Withdrawal Policy, which states "No withdrawal is permitted after the deadline except in extraordinary circumstances such as serious medical problems. Unsatisfactory academic performance is not an acceptable reason for withdrawal after the deadline."
7. Grades of "Incomplete"-- The grade of "Incomplete" will not be awarded.
