How to handle "TOO MUCH EMAIL" and other problems on the Yahoo email group:

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/groups-34.html

(Prepared by an ISM 3011 class member to whom I am very grateful)

If you do not already have one, you would need to have a yahoo acct in order to sign in to the group...you can set this up by going to Yahoo.com and clicking on check email at the top of the page. It will give you the option to open an acct with yahoo if you dont already have one. Once you have a yahoo screen name and password you can go back to the class home pages and link your way to the class email group again. Here you can hit sign in and use your Yahoo acct info to sign in and Edit YOUR Membership. This way every one can change their preferences on their own. It takes about a half hour to be effective. I just stopped receiving the emails to my aol account.

>"Sorry, this group is available to members ONLY. You are not allowed to access this group."</i>
If you get this message it is because you supplied Dr. Leigh with an e-mail address different than the one you are currently using. To correct do the following:

1. Go to Yahoo Groups using the link on the class home page. You will get the "not a member message" again.
2. Click "log off" on the Yahoo Groups page. This will take you to another Yahoo Groups page.
3. Now click sign on. This will take you to a screen which will allow you tO link the e-mail address you gave Dr. Leigh to a Yahoo account. If you do not currently have a Yahoo account it will allow you to register for one. Follow the instructions on the page.
4. When you attempt to register you will be asked for a "code". Toggle back to your e-mail from your web browser. You will have received a message from Yahoo Groups that will contain your 5 digit code.
5. Enter your code. This will take you to a page listing all the groups you are a member of. Click on "ISM 3011".
6. From here you can click on "edit membership" in the top right corner. Here you can choose how to receive your emails. You can choose individually (hundreds a day right now), as one mass email per day, or to only view them on the group page.
7. Save changes and you are done.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a computer expert. I wrote this from memory after having stumbled through it on my own. These instructions should be pretty accurate but I may have missed a step. If so, my sincerest apologies.

If possible, when sending messages use plain text format, when you use Rich Text or HTML format it does not display in your messages in the digest version of the mailing list. Please consult the help for your email programs for instructions on how to set the format.
