CBA Spotlight: Ann Marie Whyte
Interim Associate Dean

A familiar face has joined the dean's office.
Ann Marie Whyte, associate professor of finance, has been named interim associate dean of administration and human resources. She will help guide the college as we move forward during this transitional period.
"I feel blessed and privileged to be both a faculty member and administrator within the College of Business Administration," she said.
Whyte, a native of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, earned her Ph.D. from FAU in Boca Raton, and initially moved out of state to begin her teaching career. She missed Florida and "wanted to be part of a dynamic, growing university with excellent support for teaching and research," so she headed to UCF in 1998 and has been here ever since!
She has enjoyed quite a successful career at UCF and has made many contributions. Her research has been published in several prestigious academic journals and she has won numerous teaching and research awards. Her biggest accomplishment and the one that is the most rewarding, however, is that she is the mother of 8-year old twins!
She feels UCF is unlike many other business schools. "We are relatively young and still evolving. This provides many opportunities for faculty and students to make a difference and help shape the identity of the college."
And speaking of business students, she offers the following career advice, "Be patient and have realistic expectations for career advancement. Be willing to pay your dues and try different things!"
The next time you are in the dean's office, be sure to stop by and say hello!
