Project Management Materials   **

Important information regarding project selection:

  • Your team MUST select a project or submit a "special request" to the Cornerstone Board for on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 between 11am and 3pm.
  • If you have met with Junior Achievement and secured a project prior to Tuesday, September 9, simply email your lab instructor the information on your Junior Achievement project--you are done
  • Projects are assigned to teams as they are selected in Webcourses. It is expected that some teams will find that all projects may have been chosen leaving no available projects for that team. When this happens, you MUST email the Board with a "special request" email before the end of the selection process.
  • Be aware that in the past, over 150 project selections were made within thirty minutes of the list being opened. It is in your team's best interest to submit your request as soon as the list is opened.
  • As soon as your team has secured a project, print out the information so that you can submit it to your lab instructor for your ten points.
  • Any team that selects more than one project will lose all ten points for this assignment and be forced to accept the project designated for them by their lab instructor.

General Project List for The Cornerstone Course (updated 9-5-08)

Junior Achievement Project List --All JA projects have been assigned to Cornerstone teams.

  • Junior Achievement Projects may be selected as soon as you have formed a team - contact JA to set up an appointment. Make sure that you follow the specific guidelines on How to Select a JA Project.

Note:    If your lab is located at one of the Area Campuses (ie. Brevard, Daytona or Palm Bay), you must see your lab instructor for specific details on choosing your project or confirm that you are allowed to select from the General Project List or choose a JA project.

How to Select a Project:

Junior Achievement Projects are currently posted on this site. You can contact Junior Achievement to secure a project as soon as your team forms. If your team elects to perform a Junior Achievement Project, you do not need to follow the steps outlined below...simply email your lab instructor with the details and project code that JA gives you during your interview.

The General Project List posted on this site will be updated with new projects during the first week of classes.  Each project will be identified by a unique alphanumeric code; carefully note the code(s) for the project(s) that your team is interested in.

Teams will long into Webcourses and attempt to select their preferred project on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 11am. If your first choice has already been taken, move on quickly to your second choice and so on until you find a project that is still available.

One member of each team will go to the front page of Dr. Ford's Webcourse and locate the "Project Selection Sign Up Folder." This is where you will locate the codes associated with projects that interest your team. Click on ONE project that your team would like to work on. In approximately 48 hours you will receive an email reply including the contact information for your client.

If no projects are left for your team to choose (or if all remaining projects are in a geographically remote location for your team), your team will need to have ONE TEAM MEMBER send a "special request" message to the Board so that a substitute project can be located for your team. (Make sure you copy your lab instructor on your "special request" email message to the Board.)

At 3pm that day (September 9, 2008), the selection process will be closed. By this time ALL  CORNERSTONE TEAMS SHOULD HAVE DONE ONE OF TWO THINGS:

1) Successfully selected one (and only one) project

or

2) Submitted a "special request" email to the Cornerstone Board, copying their lab instructor on this message.

"Special requests" for projects will be answered in the order they are received within 72 hours (weekdays).  If your team has not received a response from the Board within 72 hours (weekdays), then your team should resend their request (please note - teams should indicate to the Board that this is their 2nd request).
